The Bastrop Federation of Teachers executive committee voted unanimously on Oct. 13 to support the $75 million bond proposition for the Bastrop ISD and the Tax Ratification Election to increase the Bastrop ISD’s maintenance and operations tax rate by 13 cents.
These proposals will be on the Nov. 8 general election ballot.
“The improvements that be funded by these proposals will benefit our entire community,” BFT President Kim Chapman said. “We encourage the voters of BISD to support these two proposals.”
BFT believes that the improvements and operational needs that will be addresses by these two proposals are essential to address enrollment growth and maintain the high quality of instruction for students in BISD. More information is available on the BISD website here.
Furthermore, BFT calls upon the Texas Legislature to reform school finance in the coming legislative session to adequately fund our schools now and in the future.
